A generously proportioned building is reborn thanks to a project by Park Associati and Snøhetta, which focuses on the refurbishment of the existing structures, enlarged and optimised, drawing inspiration from Milan’s particular architectural typologies. The result is a building that dialogues with its context and the nearby park. Permeable and accessible to the public, it connects the architectures with the urban landscape, creating an important new milestone in the growth of the Porta Nuova business district.
Pirelli 35 is characterised by a multiplicity of passages and connecting places, fused together into a single system of paths. The out- door spaces are stitched together by a homogeneous paving, almost like a large undulating stone “carpet”. The original central body has been replaced by a portion of a bridge building that makes the entire complex traversable. This has led to the creation of an internal courtyard enlivened by shops and services, and a pleas ant walkway for those heading from the Central Station towards Porta Nuova.
The Norwegian collective Snøhetta and the Italian firm Park Associati have worked together on a project for Pirelli 35strongly focused on environmental and social sustainability issues.

Open and permeable, the C-shaped building over- looks the Parco Biblioteca degli Alberi Park. In contrast, the six-storey L-shaped building on Via Antonio Bordoni makes the eye used to a more intimate view with its smaller-scale facade, in harmony with the surrounding structures. The size of the openings varies according to their orientation and exposure to the sun, providing natural light throughout the day.
